The Gulf of Tribugá, in the municipality of Nuquí, is one of the most spectacular bionatural treasures that Colombia has, and we are so fortunate that its community prevented the construction of a deep-water port so that today we can still enjoy and honor it.
The wisest women of the region say that Nuquí can only be reached when the spirit is ready. A land of both violent and peaceful landscapes, of rainbows after breathtaking yet imperishable downpours, of beaches indifferent to humankind, of crystalline rivers, of a sea that turns green or blue depending on its mood. The Gulf of Tribugá is one of those wonders that must be visited to truly understand Colombia.
This visit is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, as galloping at full speed won't allow you to fully appreciate the fragrance of the flowers. Even so, there are so many memorable experiences and wonderful people from the local community to meet that time will fly by. The view of the Gulf coast from the boat will prompt profound reflection. Staying in the cabins of the Refugio del Negro Gozón —local pioneers of ecotourism in the region for over 40 years—will evoke childhood dreams. Releasing turtles will liberate your consciousness. Travelling up the Arusí River in a canoe , with howler monkeys in the background, will awaken your senses. Hiking through the deep jungle to waterfalls or along the jungle coast, stopping to swim at each beautiful beach and ultimately discovering viche , a traditional drink made with ancestral wisdom, will unleash your inner poetry. If you still have energy, exploring the jungle at night among frogs and fluorescent mushrooms will awaken previously unknown senses. A soak in the hot springs will allow you to achieve well-deserved relaxation.
A journey to return with answers for travelers with a spirit prepared to face important questions.
