Type of trip: history, culture, sea and jungle
In the Chocó region of Urabá, in the middle of the jungle, very close to almost unexplored beaches, lies Santa María de la Antigua del Darién, the first city founded by the Spanish in American territory, whose history is curiously unknown to most Colombians.
In the city's open-air museum, you can discover, with your own hands, pieces of Spanish and indigenous pottery over 500 years old. To get there, you must cross the Gulf of Urabá, and it's almost obligatory to take in the breathtaking blend of the brown waters of the mighty Atrato River with the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. In Titumate-Unguía, the enterprising local community, looking toward the region's future with green projects and optimism, warmly welcomes visitors.
After the historical and cultural experience, the next day, the trees of the Forest of Giants and the verdant sea of San Francisco offer a change of perspective. The journey will be accompanied at every step by the flavors of the unique gastronomy of the Urabá Chocó region.
A journey of learning, landscapes, gastronomy, forest and sea, with deep reflections, and hopefully, the purpose of connecting .
